ABOUT ME
I’m Nerea Tarrida, a visual storyteller born in Barcelona in 2002. I studied Image and Lighting at EMAV (Barcelona) and Photography at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague.
I create images that are meant to be felt before they are understood. Rooted in social and political realities, and through fiction, symbolism, and metaphor, I explore how these issues can be felt and imagined, and I like to reinterpret them. I seek to create photographs that are open and emotionally charged, images that resist fixed meanings and invite ongoing dialogue.
For me, each image is a meeting point between reality and imagination, shaped by ambiguity and the power of suggestion. In this way, I like to play with visual metaphors to engage with the audience. My work is political not through direct representation, but through the presence, emotion, and friction of these; seeking to challenge dominant narratives, give space to quieter voices, and foster a deeper engagement.
My images are not distant observations; they are fragments of lived, imagined, and interpreted experience. Through photography, I am not only a witness to the world; I question it, I go through it, and I dare to transform it.
